Torrevieja's local police take stock of the summer: more officers and a greater presence in the city.

The Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Federico Alarcón, accompanied by the Chief Superintendent of the Torrevieja Local Police, Óscar Cartón, the Security and Emergency Coordinator, Adrián Ballester, and the Director General of the Police, Alejandro Morer, today presented an overview of police operations during the summer months.

Between June 1 and August 31 , the Local Police carried out a total of 14,802 services , representing a 75% increase compared to last year, thanks in part to the increased number of officers, which allowed them to cover more areas of the city and improve citizen service. Among the new features this summer is the implementation of the school patrol, which has strengthened security in educational settings.

In terms of traffic, 468 accidents were recorded , with only one fatality, a figure that reflects the effectiveness of preventive measures and the constant vigilance of the Local Police. In addition, 63 reports were filed for road safety offenses, such as alcohol or drug use, speeding, or refusal to take a test.

In the criminal justice system, 50 reports were issued, resulting in 43 arrests for robbery, domestic violence, and resisting arrest. Police responded swiftly in all cases. The local police also intervened to control street vendors, confiscating 128 packages . Thanks to the increased police presence, the city's streets have been freer of street vendors and other irregular activities. Likewise, 420 reports were filed with the Provincial Traffic Headquarters and 137 reports were filed for violations of municipal ordinances related to alcohol consumption in public, animal welfare, disrespect toward officers, and damage to public property.

Finally, Councillor Federico Alarcón stated that the Department of Security and Emergencies, following the results of the summer, will continue working to maintain and improve security in Torrevieja. He highlighted that the reinforcement of 41 police officers has allowed for better coverage of the city and reinforced security throughout the summer in Torrevieja.
