Torrevieja commemorates World Mental Health Day with an event open to the public.

TORREVIEJA CONMEMORA EL DÍA MUNDIAL DE LA SALUD MENTAL CON UN EVENTO ABIERTO A LA CIUDADANÍA
On October 3, the Palacio de la Música will host a day of reflection, learning, and coexistence under the motto "We share vulnerability, let's defend our mental health."

Torrevieja City Council's Councilor for Social Welfare, Óscar Urtasun, will hold a commemorative event on October 3rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., to mark World Mental Health Day 2025. This year, the event is being organized under the slogan "We share vulnerability, let's defend our mental health." The event will take place at the Palacio de la Música and will be open to the public until capacity is reached.

The event will feature participation from professionals in psychology, psychiatry, and social work, as well as users who will share their firsthand experiences.

PROGRAM OF THE DAY

Institutional welcome with the participation of the territorial director of Health of Alicante, Francisco Ponce Lorenzo.

Presentation "Myths about mental health in psychiatry," by Jesús Mesones, head of the Psychiatry Department at Torrevieja University Hospital.

Talk "Mental Health Can Also Be Trained," given by Zineb Rimi, coach, former professional basketball player for the Moroccan national team, and author of the book Beyond the Game.

Presentation of the Mental Illness Care and Monitoring Service (SASEM), which was launched in January as a specific primary care service within the Social Services sector, with the participation of M. José Sanz (Social Welfare Coordinator), Ester Rivera (psychologist), and M. José Navarro (social worker).

First-person testimony, shared by a user.

Cultural performances, with two musical works by professionals from the Torrevieja Conservatory of Music and monologues and sketches by the ADIEM theater group.

Closing with a snack, which will allow attendees to share impressions and reflections on the day.

The Torrevieja City Council's Department of Social Welfare invites all interested parties to participate in this commemoration, which aims to raise awareness, break down stigmas, and promote a positive view of mental health.
