After visiting the capital of the Principality of Asturias, the Torrevieja City Council delegation, comprised of the Salt Court and councilors Rosario Martínez and Concha Sala, received a warm official reception in Pola de Siero, a town that, like Oviedo, is twinned with the city of Torrevieja. In the Siero City Hall, the mayor, Ángel Antonio García, received the Torrevieja delegation along with councilors Ana Rosa Nosti and Patricia Antuña.

During the reception, the many ties between Siero and Torrevieja were recalled, dating back to 1957, when the choral group "Siero Musical" came to Torrevieja to participate in the third Habanera Competition. The twinning relationship between Pola de Siero and Torrevieja was also commemorated. Deputy Mayor Rosario Martínez presented a tray with a sample of various salt products, while representatives from Siero presented the members of the Torrevieja delegation with containers of the popular "Lacasitos" sweet, produced in the factory in the municipality of Siero.

Afterwards, the entire delegation traveled to the livestock enclosure in the Asturian town to participate in the opening of the 40th edition of the "Agrosiero" Livestock Fair, one of the most important held in Asturias. Among the attendees were the Regional Minister for Rural Environment and Agricultural Policy, Marcelino Marcos, and the Mayor of Valdés, Óscar Pérez, who was the town crier for the Santa Bárbara festivities held last year at the Torrevieja Asturian Center.

Once again, the great affection that Siero and Torrevieja have had for each other for seven decades was evident.
