The 7th edition of the International Stew Competition will be held on Saturday, January 31st at the Municipal Leisure Centre (CMO)

Around twenty teams will participate in this competition in the different specialties of Cocido, which are: International Cocido, Spanish Regional Cocido, Traditional Cocido with Meatballs and authentic Torrevieja-style Cocido with Meatballs

As this is an amateur competition, professional cooks are not allowed to participate, although they may participate in an exhibition or non-competitive manner.

Once again, the Department for Older People of the Torrevieja City Council, together with the Gastronomic Brotherhood of Cocido with Balls, organizes the International Cocido Competition, this being its seventh edition.

The competition will take place on Saturday, January 31st, at the Municipal Leisure Centre (CMO), where the twenty or so teams expected to participate in the competition will meet in the different Cocido specialties, which are:

-International Stew

-Regional Spanish Stew

-Traditional Stew with Meatballs

-Cocido con Pelotas, authentic Torrevieja style

The International Stew Competition is open to all cooking enthusiasts over the age of 18, regardless of profession or nationality. Participation can be individual or on behalf of an association, club, group, or friends group.

As this is an amateur competition, professional cooks are not allowed to participate, although they may participate in an exhibition or non-competitive manner.

All participants will receive prizes and commemorative medals.

Registrations can be made from next Thursday, January 15, at the Offices of the Department of Senior Citizens, located at Maldonado Street, No. 5, or by calling the Gastronomic Brotherhood on the telephone number 620 40 82 84, with the registration period ending on January 27, at 2:00 p.m.
