This morning, Wednesday, December 28, at 9:00 a.m., a meeting of the CECOPAL (Local Emergency Coordination Center) was held in the Plenary Hall of the Torrevieja City Hall, chaired by the mayor of the city, Eduardo Dolón, in anticipation of the arrival of Storm Kristin, which will bring an episode of adverse weather to much of Spain today, with the wind being the most significant phenomenon, with very strong and even hurricane-force gusts, potentially reaching up to 110 km/h.
According to forecasts, the strongest winds will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, therefore, given this ORANGE ALERT, the following decisions have been made by CECOPAL:

- Closure of the following parks: Doña Sinforosa, Las Naciones, Aromático, Eduardo Gil Rebollo, La Estación and La Siesta, as well as outdoor facilities at the Sports City and recreational areas in the rest of the city's parks.
- Closure of the municipal cemeteries (Torrevieja and La Mata) and the municipal hostel.
- The La Mata street market will close at 13:00.
CECOPAL RECOMMENDATIONS TO CITIZENS:
- Do not engage in outdoor activities after 1:00 PM.
- Do not approach trees or street furniture.
- Remove any items from the exterior of your homes that the wind could knock over (awnings, flowerpots, tables, chairs, etc.)
