The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, along with the councilor for the Environment, Antonio Vidal, the councilor for Parks and Gardens, the councilor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, the manager of AGAMED, Jorge Ballesta, and the deputy manager, Gemma Cruz, participated this morning, along with numerous fourth-grade students from the town, in the planting of trees and regeneration of an area of the La Mata and Torrevieja Lagoons Natural Park, on the occasion of the celebration of Tree Day 2026. These activities will continue until tomorrow, Friday, January 30, and will involve students from almost all the educational centers in Torrevieja.

This activity aims to teach young people about the importance of ecological regeneration and planting criteria, making it the most participatory and significant of its kind in recent years throughout the Valencian Community. Students plant native species such as kermes oak, mastic, tamarisk, lavender, juniper, blackthorn, dwarf palm, santolina, Aleppo pine, buckthorn, rosemary, and carob.

For this activity, AGAMED has carried out the work of preparing and adapting the planting area, located in the upper part of the Park, as well as the auxiliary irrigation and the plant protectors.

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, emphasized the importance of carrying out these types of activities for young people, so they can become aware of and understand the environmental values that new generations should embrace, and see firsthand how to reforest green spaces and areas within the municipality. The mayor concluded by stating that these initiatives with all the town's schools will continue annually, giving children the opportunity to plant at least one tree each year.
