The submission period for the IV Raúl Ferrández National Amateur Theatre Competition, which will be held from March 20 to 24, is now closed.

A total of 52 companies from 19 Spanish provinces have entered this sixth edition.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Municipal Theatre on Friday, March 27, at 8:00 p.m., coinciding with World Theatre Day. In addition to the awards ceremony, there will be a reading of the 2026 theatre manifesto and a performance of the play "Farra" by the National Classical Theatre Company and Lucas Escobedo, winner of the 2025 MAX Award for Best Musical Show.

The Councillor for Culture of Torrevieja City Council, Antonio Quesada, reports that the VI National Amateur Theatre Competition “Raúl Ferrández”, which will be held between March 20 and 24 at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre, at 8:00 pm (with free admission until full capacity is reached), begins the selection of theatrical works to choose 5 of them, which will be the ones that can perform their shows in the already known as “the big week of theatre”, a total of 52 companies from all over Spain have been presented, so the selection is going to be extremely difficult.

Theatre groups from 19 provinces across the country have participated, including Guipúzcoa, Badajoz, Murcia, Zamora, Salamanca, Palencia, Segovia, Ciudad Real, Albacete, Zaragoza, Madrid, Tarragona, Cádiz, Granada, Sevilla, Málaga, Jaén, Alicante and Castellón.

It will be on Friday, March 27, at the Municipal Theater, where the jury's decision will be announced, as well as the reading of the World Theater Day manifesto and the theatrical performance of the play "Farra" by the National Classical Theater Company and Lucas Escobedo, winner of the 2025 MAX award for best musical show.

The prizes are:

-Award for best work - €2000 + trophy

- Special Audience Award “Maribel Vallejos” - €500 + trophy

- Best Actress Award - trophy

- Best Actor Award – Trophy
