The Parks and Gardens department is planting nearly fifty trees on Delfina Viudes and Diego Ramirez avenues.
The Parks and Gardens Department of Torrevieja City Council has carried out a new improvement and renaturalization action of the urban environment by planting nearly fifty trees on Delfina Viudes and Diego Ramírez avenues, within the Municipal Plan for Reinforcing Trees and Improving Public Spaces in the municipality.
Over the past few days, municipal teams have been working on both streets to increase shaded areas, beautify the urban landscape, and contribute to improving the environmental quality and thermal comfort of residents and passersby. Trees that had declined for various reasons have been replaced, and new ones have been planted. In total, 42 new trees have been planted, distributed as follows:
-27 plane trees (Platanus orientalis) on Delfina Viudes street, a large species especially suitable for urban environments due to its ability to generate shade and its resistance to climatic conditions.
-15 maple trees (Acer negundo) on Diego Ramírez street, selected for their ornamental value and their contribution to biodiversity and the visual appeal of the surroundings.
These actions have been developed following technical criteria of sustainability and adaptation to the urban environment, guaranteeing proper root development, compatibility with existing infrastructure and efficient long-term maintenance.
The Councillor for Parks and Gardens, Concha Sala, has indicated that the planting of new trees is part of the municipal strategy to move towards a greener, healthier and more resilient city in the face of high temperatures, promoting more pleasant spaces for walking, socializing and pedestrian mobility.
With this intervention, the Torrevieja City Council reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of the urban landscape and the enhancement of Torrevieja's public spaces, opting for a more sustainable, friendly city model focused on the well-being of its citizens.
