On Saturday, February 28, Ricardo Lafuente's play "Gitanos" will be performed at the Municipal Theater.
The work “Gitanos”, a lyrical piece by the master Ricardo Lafuente Aguado, was officially presented at a press conference this morning in the Plenary Hall of the Torrevieja City Council.
The presentation event was attended by the Councillor for Culture, Antonio Quesada; the artistic director of the 3 MAP Musical Association, María Ortigosa; and one of the main protagonists of the work, Paco Moreno (“Antonio el Piripi”).
“Gitanos” will be performed at the Municipal Theatre next Saturday, February 28, at 8:00 p.m., as part of the Ricardo Lafuente Memorial, organized biennially by the Municipal Habaneras Board. Within the framework of this memorial, the 3 MAP Musical Association will be responsible for staging this emblematic work, a zarzuela with a Torrevieja flavor, thus recovering a fundamental piece of Torrevieja's musical heritage.
During the presentation, the cultural and sentimental value of this production was highlighted. It integrates music, theater, dance, and flamenco, featuring 90 performers on stage, and serves as a living tribute to the legacy of maestro Ricardo Lafuente. "Gitanos" was written by Ricardo Lafuente in the 1950s and last performed in 1988 at the historic Eras de la Sal venue.
