The Parks and Gardens Department of Torrevieja City Council is carrying out cleaning and maintenance work on the 19 ornamental fountains distributed throughout the municipality, with the aim of improving their state of conservation, ensuring their proper functioning and maintaining these elements that form part of the city's urban landscape in good condition.

Some of these fountains had been inaccessible for some time due to the difficulty of accessing them for maintenance, which hampered the work. For this reason, the council has planned a specific strategy to allow these tasks to be carried out gradually.

The work being carried out includes a thorough cleaning of the structures, removal of accumulated sediment, inspection of the operating systems, and repair of minor cracks found in some of the fountains. These interventions will improve both the aesthetic appearance of the facilities and their durability.

Among the fountains currently undergoing restoration are some of the most central locations, such as the Plaza de la Constitución and the iconic Plaza de Waldo Calero. Other fountains are also being restored in various parts of the city, including Punta Prima Playa, the La Veleta roundabout, Parque Doña Sinforosa, Plaza Marina Española, Parque de las Naciones, Parque Aromático, Parque de La Siesta, and Parque Molino del Agua, among other locations within the municipality.

Maintenance work is also being carried out on emblematic ornamental and monumental fountains, such as the fountain of the Salt Worker Monument, the fountain of the Coralist Monument in the Vista Alegre Promenade, the "Three Little Pigs" fountain in Punta Margalla or the fountain located next to the La Loma Health Center.

The Councillor for Parks and Gardens, Concha Sala, emphasizes that these works are part of an ongoing plan to conserve and improve Torrevieja's public spaces. This plan, being implemented gradually, will allow for the better maintenance of the ornamental features throughout the city. Specifically, this action will ensure these spaces look their best during the Easter holiday period.
