The meeting aims to provide citizens with accurate information to combat misinformation, highlighting scientific evidence as a fundamental tool for collective protection.

The Torrevieja City Council, through the Department of Prevention and Promotion of Health and Consumer Affairs, announces the celebration of the 8th edition of the "Conversations about Health" series, which will take place next Thursday, May 21, at 7:00 p.m., at the Royal Nautical Club of Torrevieja.

Under the title “Vaccines: prevention is care, science, protection and health” , this new session will address one of the most relevant topics in the current health field, in a context marked by massive access to information and, at the same time, by the proliferation of unverified content.

The aim of this series is to bring health issues of general interest closer to the citizens of Torrevieja through a close, accessible and participatory format, with the intervention of renowned health professionals in the health area.

This edition will focus on the importance of vaccines as one of the most effective tools in the history of medicine for disease prevention. In addition to protecting those who receive them, vaccines contribute decisively to the protection of the community as a whole, especially the most vulnerable groups, by reducing the incidence of diseases, preventing serious complications, hospitalizations, and deaths, and limiting their transmission.

To this end, the meeting will feature the participation of leading specialists such as Armando Bastida , a specialist nurse in Pediatrics; Dr. María Mínguez , head of the Department of Pediatrics at the Quirónsalud Torrevieja Hospital; and Dr. Vicente García , head of the Department of Preventive Medicine and deputy medical director of the University Hospital of Torrevieja.

The Department of Prevention and Health Promotion encourages citizens, as well as healthcare professionals, to attend this informative event which seeks to promote knowledge based on scientific evidence and encourage responsible habits in public health.

The councillor for the area, Rosa Cañón , highlighted the importance of continuing to promote these types of initiatives "which allow us to provide accurate information, answer questions and reinforce public confidence in essential health tools such as vaccines, thus contributing to a more protected and healthy society."
