The Torrevieja City Council has approved the basic and execution project for the development of four municipal plots that will be used for park-and-ride facilities, a strategic action that will create a total of 3,937 parking spaces distributed in different parts of the municipality.

The project entails a total investment of €3,618,541 (VAT included). The estimated timeframe for completing the works, signage, and comprehensive adaptation of the spaces is five months, with work being carried out simultaneously on the different plots.

This initiative responds to the need to improve urban mobility, facilitate parking and reduce traffic congestion in the busiest areas of the city, especially in the city center.

FOUR PARKING LOTS WITH ALMOST 4,000 SPACES

The work will be carried out simultaneously on four municipal plots, with the following characteristics:

-Plot 1: Station Avenue

255 spaces (243 standard + 12 parking spaces for people with reduced mobility)

Investment: €614,852.30

-Plot 2: Ramón del Valle Inclán Avenue - Turret

213 spaces (205 standard + 8 parking spaces for people with reduced mobility)

Investment: €549,569.50

-Plot 3: Juan Valera Street - CV-905

758 spaces (738 standard + 20 parking spaces for people with reduced mobility)

Investment: €1,213,641.27

-Plot 4: Delfina Viudes Avenue - Antonio Soria Park

2,711 parking spaces (2,696 standard + 15 parking spaces for people with reduced mobility)

Investment: €117,363.22

In total, 3,882 conventional parking spaces and 55 spaces adapted for people with reduced mobility will be made available, consolidating a network of large-capacity park-and-ride facilities.

LAND PREPARATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT

The project includes a complete adaptation of the land, with clearing, leveling and compaction of the pavement, as well as the execution of differentiated pavements for roads and parking areas, drainage of rainwater and horizontal and vertical signage.

In addition, the parking areas will be equipped with LED lighting towers, adapted access, space demarcation, electrical installation and security elements, guaranteeing functional, accessible and safe spaces.

A FIRM COMMITMENT TO MOBILITY AND URBAN QUALITY

With this action, the Torrevieja City Council takes a firm step in its strategy of traffic management and improvement of urban quality, generating spaces that will allow it to absorb a significant part of the surface parking and facilitate access to the city.

The creation of these park-and-ride facilities will not only alleviate pressure in the most congested areas, but will also contribute to more efficient, orderly and sustainable mobility, adapted to the constant growth of the city and the real needs of residents and visitors.
