The City Council has proactively activated the water quality protocol in a bathing area of the natural pools on the Juan Aparicio promenade.
The Torrevieja City Council's Beaches Department activated this morning the protocol foreseen in the Beach Management System, after receiving a communication from the General Directorate of Environmental Quality and Education of the Valencian Government regarding a specific incident detected in the routine water quality controls carried out in a bathing area of the Natural Pools of the Juan Aparicio Promenade.
Immediately, and under the coordination of the Beaches Department, the entire operation planned for these cases was put into action. The Local Police proceeded to temporarily close the bathing area, while the lifeguard service raised the red flag and informed users about this preventative measure.
Meanwhile, the joint venture AGAMED has taken new water samples to verify the evolution of the detected parameters. The situation is being continuously monitored by the relevant authorities and technical services.
The City Council wishes to reassure the public, as this is a standard procedure designed to guarantee the highest safety and quality of bathing waters at all times. The incident is limited to the specific control point in question, and the response is being handled with the utmost speed and coordination.
The popular bathing area of the Natural Pools will reopen to the public as soon as the results of the new analyses confirm that the parameters have recovered to the levels suitable for bathing, a circumstance that will be communicated immediately to residents and visitors.
