Over the past two decades, the Theatre has welcomed more than 600,000 spectators, hosted over 1,500 performances (including more than 30 musicals), and featured the participation of over 50 cultural and musical organizations from Torrevieja. Guided tours of the building's interior, staged readings by the Municipal Theatre School, and a retrospective exhibition will commemorate the most emblematic moments of these twenty years. The Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, stated that "for twenty years, the Municipal Theatre has been a meeting place, a hub of creativity and community, a space that has accompanied the cultural growth of our city and will continue to play a leading role in its future."

The Torrevieja Municipal Theatre commemorates this year the twentieth anniversary of its inauguration, celebrating twenty years of intense cultural activity that have made this performance space one of the great artistic benchmarks of the city and the province of Alicante.

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the councilor for Culture, Antonio Quesada, has presented the special program organized to celebrate this anniversary under the slogan "20 years sharing culture, making the heart of Torrevieja beat" , a phrase that summarizes the role played by the Municipal Theatre since it opened its doors on June 28, 2006.

During these two decades, thousands of spectators have passed through its seats to enjoy theatrical performances, concerts, dance shows, musicals, competitions, galas and cultural events that have contributed to consolidating a stable and quality program, turning the theater into a true meeting point for generations of Torrevieja residents and visitors.

Specifically, more than 600,000 spectators, more than 1,500 shows (with the performance of more than 30 musicals) and the presence and participation of more than 50 cultural and musical entities from Torrevieja.

TWENTY YEARS OF CULTURE SERVING TORREVIEJA

The Theatre has witnessed some of the most important cultural events in the city over the past twenty years. Major national and international companies, top-tier artists, and hundreds of local creators have found in this venue a privileged space to share their talent with the public.

The celebration of this anniversary aims to pay tribute not only to the building and its programming, but also to all the people who have contributed to making its growth possible: workers, technicians, artists, cultural associations and spectators who have been part of its history.

As a kickoff to the commemoration, an audiovisual video has been presented that captures some of the highlights of these two decades, showing the artistic, technical and human evolution of the Municipal Theatre from its opening to the present day.

THE PUBLIC WILL BE ABLE TO DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE THEATER FROM THE INSIDE

One of the most unique events of this celebration will be the special guided tours that will allow citizens to see spaces usually restricted to the public, such as the dressing rooms, the technical areas or the inner workings of the stage.

These visits will also have a very special character, since the theater's own workers will act as guides, sharing with the attendees anecdotes, experiences and memories accumulated over these twenty years of activity.

The experience will be completed with dramatized readings performed by students from the Municipal School of Theatre, who will give voice to different theatrical and literary texts on stage, thus reinforcing the prominence of local talent in this commemoration.

The visits will take place on June 25, 27 and 28 , with two daily sessions at 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm , and prior booking is required through the Cultura Torrevieja website www.culturatorrevieja.com and the Municipal Theatre box office.

AN EXHIBITION TO EXPLORE TWENTY YEARS OF CULTURAL PROGRAMMING

In parallel, the lobby of the Municipal Theatre will host a retrospective exhibition featuring the most representative posters from shows and events held since its inauguration. The exhibition, open from June 25 to July 18, offers a visual journey through the city's cultural evolution via some of the productions, concerts, and events that have shaped the Municipal Theatre's programming over the past two decades.

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, emphasized that this anniversary “is a tribute to culture, but also to the people who make it possible every day,” and he wanted to highlight the work carried out by the Theater's team over these twenty years, as well as the involvement of the Municipal School of Theater in a celebration that “is born from within, with the leading role of those who have contributed to making this space one of the most important cultural symbols of Torrevieja.”

The mayor also pointed out that “the Municipal Theatre has been much more than a building for twenty years; it has been a place of encounter, creativity and coexistence, a space that has accompanied the cultural growth of our city and that will continue to be a protagonist of its future.”

With this special program, Torrevieja pays tribute to one of its most emblematic spaces and reaffirms its commitment to culture as an engine of social, educational and tourist development, celebrating twenty years of shared history with thousands of spectators who have made the Municipal Theatre the true cultural heart of the city.
