The park-and-ride facility on Avenida de la Estación will open to the public tomorrow, Friday.

Torrevieja City Council will open to the public tomorrow, Friday, July 31, the new park and ride facility located on the temporary municipal plot between Avenida de la Estación, Calle Ciudad de Barcelona, Camino del Acequión and the N-332.

The project has allowed for the conditioning of an area of 7,048 square meters for its temporary use as a parking area, with the aim of expanding the alternatives available in this environment and promoting more orderly mobility.

The work included clearing, leveling, and cleaning the land, removing and properly managing the waste, and supplying, spreading, leveling, and compacting a layer of gravel. Two access fords and their corresponding finishing touches were also constructed.

Vehicle access will be from Avenida de la Estación and Calle Ciudad de Barcelona, exclusively through the urban road network.

The intervention, which is superficial and reversible, allows a previously undeveloped municipal plot to be put into use without permanently altering its urban planning designation. The granular surface solution implemented facilitates vehicle traffic and parking while preserving the permeability of the ground.

With the opening of this parking lot, the City Council expands the parking supply in an area close to the town center and helps to reduce situations of inappropriate parking, improve road and pedestrian safety and promote a more fluid and orderly traffic flow.

In parallel, the City Council has planned four additional park-and-ride facilities near the city center and the port area, which will add more than 3,900 spaces, including accessible spaces, and will have proper access and signage. Their opening will offset the reduction in parking spaces resulting from the port's transformation and improve pedestrian connections to the city center.
