The Valencian Regional Government gives a new boost to the widening of the CV-95, a key infrastructure project for Torrevieja

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has expressed his satisfaction after learning of the awarding, by the Valencian Regional Government, of the contract for the drafting of the basic project and all the technical, economic and administrative documentation necessary to promote the future widening of the CV-95 road between Orihuela and Torrevieja, a new step forward in making a reality one of the most demanded infrastructures by the city and by the entire Vega Baja region.

Eduardo Dolón wanted to expressly thank the President of the Generalitat, Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca, the Minister of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus, and the entire team of the Ministry for the commitment shown to this strategic project, highlighting that the award confirms the Consell's willingness to continue advancing in an essential action to improve mobility, road safety and the connection between the coast and the interior of the region.

The mayor recalled that the widening of the CV-95 is a long-standing demand of Torrevieja and the municipalities of Vega Baja, since this road is the main axis connecting the interior of the region with its coast, and the duplication of the road responds to the connectivity needs of the municipalities of the region.

Special attention should be paid to the sections that enter the municipalities of Orihuela and Torrevieja, since, although the central section of the road carries traffic of around 9,000 vehicles per day, this figure rises considerably in these municipalities, especially in the Los Balcones section, where the number of vehicles doubles; specifically, it reaches over 19,000 vehicles per day in the area of the Torrevieja Hospital and the connection with the N-332.

Dolón pointed out that the awarding of the contract for drafting the project represents "a firm step towards making a fundamental infrastructure a reality for the present and future of Torrevieja," insisting that the improvement of the CV-95 will allow the municipality to respond to population growth, increase road safety and improve communications with the rest of the Vega Baja region.

The awarded contract will allow for the development of the basic project and all the necessary documentation to technically define the alternative actions for the road, study the widening of the road and any necessary bypasses, as well as prepare the technical, economic, and environmental studies that will serve as the basis for the future execution of the works. The area of intervention covers approximately 26.5 kilometers between Orihuela and Torrevieja, also crossing the municipalities of Bigastro, Jacarilla, and San Miguel de Salinas.

The mayor emphasized that this new development demonstrates that "when administrations work in a coordinated manner and there is political will, strategic projects eventually move forward," again expressing his gratitude for the sensitivity shown by the Generalitat with an infrastructure that he considers essential for the economic, social and tourist development of Torrevieja and the entire region.

Finally, Eduardo Dolón reaffirmed the full willingness of the Torrevieja City Council to continue collaborating with the Valencian Regional Government during the next phases of the project's processing, with the aim of ensuring that the widening of the CV-95 continues to progress until it becomes a reality.
