Torrevieja City Council expands the number of positions in the Local Police selection process to 63 in order to strengthen and provide greater stability to the municipal staff.
The Torrevieja City Council continues to take firm steps in its commitment to improving public safety and strengthening the local administration's human resources. The Councillor for Personnel and Internal Affairs, María José Ruiz, announced today, following its approval by the Civil Servants' Committee, the expansion of the Local Police recruitment process to fill a total of 63 positions , combining those from the 2025 and 2026 job openings with the 2023 and 2024 public employment offers.
This significant expansion reinforces the initial call for 44 positions, consolidating one of the most ambitious selection processes in the municipality in recent years. Of the 63 total positions offered, 45 will be open to the public and 18 will be for internal transfers.
The process is at a crucial juncture. Having recently completed the final practical test, the candidates are now entering the final phase, which will consist of undergoing the required medical examinations prior to their appointment as trainee civil servants.
The Department of Personnel wishes to highlight the outstanding daily work carried out by the officers of the Torrevieja Local Police, who are constantly ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and visitors. This historic offer aims to provide a definitive solution to the need for stability within the force, equipping it with the necessary personnel to deliver the best possible service to the city.
START 2027 WITH A STRENGTHENED TEAM
The Torrevieja City Council anticipates that this selection process will conclude in the coming months, so that Torrevieja can begin 2027 with a Local Police force of around 180 officers.
This operational reinforcement at the basic level will be complemented simultaneously with the different selection processes already underway for the filling of command positions, which will reach 30 posts —covering the categories of Officer, Inspector, Superintendent and Commissioner—, thus guaranteeing a solid and effective hierarchical structure.
Finally, the City Council highly values the constant collaboration and joint work carried out by the Personnel and Police departments, and announces that work is already underway on the future creation of new positions to continue expanding and modernizing the Torrevieja Local Police force in the coming years.
