Torrevieja recovers municipal aid to university students

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with the councilor for the Treasury, Domingo Paredes, the mayor of Education, Ricardo Recuero, and the president of the Association of University Students of Torrevieja (ADUTG), Manuel Escudero, has announced on the morning of Today, the regulatory bases and the call for aid for young university students have already been approved for the granting of aid that finances the current costs of tuition, textbooks and transport for the 2020/2021 academic year. Once the bases have been published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP), throughout this week, there will be a deadline for submitting applications of 30 calendar days from their publication.

Eduardo Dolón has highlighted that with this call, important aid is recovered for young people from Torrevieja that were lost during the previous term and that the Popular Party promised to recover in the 2019 municipal electoral campaign. In this way, the electoral contract with the ADEUT association, which will be able to receive significant financial aid corresponding to the course that has just ended 2020/2021.

For the mayor this has been a long process until its culmination now, since from the first moment this item had to be created in the municipal budgets that time and time again have been blocked and paralyzed by the opposition.

Eduardo Dolón has continued to assure that for this Government team the implementation of the aid is a great achievement, adding that, as has been shown, it is totally legal aid, despite the fact that those who governed in the previous term (2015/2019) They claimed they were illegal.

The mayor of Torrevieja has announced that the Youth Council is already working on new university scholarships that complement the current ones and attract all the young talent in our city.

He also wanted to acknowledge the close collaboration of the ADEUGT association, which from the first moment has been present defending the interests of all Torrevieja university students in these bases and giving their opinion to publish them adjusted to the current reality.

Likewise, in the next few days a webinar will be convened with the municipal technician in charge of managing the grants to clarify and resolve all doubts that Torrevieja university students may have.

THE AMOUNT OF THE AID COMES TO 786,000 EUROS

It should be noted that the amount of these university grants amounts to 500,000 euros, 200,000 euros corresponding to the heading for university scholarships for Youth and 300,000 euros from the heading for Education transport. In addition, the incorporation of 286,000 euros from the Treasury remnants to expand this item already has the initial approval. In total, 786,000 euros for university students in our town.

REQUIREMENTS:

For the granting of these municipal aid, the following requirements have been established:

have a maximum age of 35 years.
Be registered in Torrevieja. This procedure is carried out ex officio by the City Council when the applicant fills in an authorization.
It is allowed to be registered in person or remotely.
A minimum number of credits or subjects has been established in which it is necessary to be enrolled annually and that corresponds to the requirements established by the universities.
The family income level may not exceed € 15,000 for each member. In other words, in a family unit made up of a father, a mother and a child, the income level will be € 45,000.
The maximum amount to be awarded will be up to € 1,500, but in no case may the amount exceed the expenses justified by the student.
To determine the amount, a points system has been established that will be sent to all of you with the bases attached in the press release.
The eligible expenses are:
-The registration, providing proof of registration and bank receipt of payment.

-The textbooks. That will be justified by providing the purchase invoices.

-Public transport expenses used to get to their study centers. This must be justified by an accrediting certificate from the issuing company.

The application model is in Annex 1 of the Bases and for the application of these grants will be available on the municipal website of the Torrevieja City Council all the information and documentation. In addition, access to the electronic headquarters will be enabled to formulate the request.
VALUATION CRITERIA

The evaluation criteria will be the following:

FAMILY SITUATIONS

One or more unemployed members, at least 6 months old: 1 point.

Large family: 0.5 points.

One-parent family: 0.5 points.

Applicant or a member of the family unit has a disability equal to or greater than 33%: 0.5 points.

The aid applicant and / or her sons and daughters under 23 years of age can prove that they are victims of gender violence: 0.5 points.

Per capita income less than or equal to € 9,000: 1 point.

TYPE OF STUDY

Face-to-face teaching: 4 points.

Distance learning: 1 point.

LEVEL

4 points for studying an official Master's degree.

3 points for being in the last year according to the current study plan.

2 points for taking intermediate courses.

1 point for taking the first year.

The highest course to which the subjects in which you have enrolled belong will be taken as a basis.
ACADEMIC RECORD. LAST COURSE COMPLETED

The average grade will be calculated under the following criteria:

Matriculation of honor: 4 points.

Outstanding: 3 points.

Notable (7-8.9): 2 points.

Pass / Pass (5-6.9): 1 point.

Not presented / Failure: 0.25 points.

DISTANCE TORREVIEJA-LOCALITY WHERE STUDIES CURRENT

Greater than 50 km: 4 points.

Greater than 40 km or equal to or less than 50 km: 3 points.

Greater than 30 km and equal to or less than 40 km: 2 points.

Greater than 20 km and equal to or less than 30 km: 1 point.

Equal to or less than 20 km: 0.5 points.

* The distance will be determined by means of the information available in «CartoCiudad» in the geoportal www.cartociudad.es of the Ministry of Public Works, of free, open and free access, taking as reference the habitual residence of the person requesting the aid and that of the study center where training is given.
