The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with the Councilor for Sports, Diana Box, have received this morning, August 19, the athletes from Torrevieja who participated in the Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Luis Manuel Corchete (athletic march ) and Daniel Cánovas (sailing coach).

Eduardo Dolón has presented them with a plaque in recognition of the achievement of participating in a competition of such high level as the Olympics. In the words of the mayor “it is a privilege and an honor to receive two athletes from the city of Torrevieja, who have participated in the Olympics and who have made us all participate in this dream come true”.

The Olympic marcher Luis Manuel Corchete has presented the mayor, Eduardo Dolón, and the Councilor for Sports, Diana Box, the shirt, the number and a photograph of his time at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as thanks to his beginnings in the municipal athletics school. This gift will be placed in a privileged place in the sports hall, once the repair work is completed, as indicated by Eduardo Dolón.

Both athletes wanted to thank the city for all the support they have received in recent weeks. They have had a special memory for their beginnings as athletes in their city, Luis Manuel Corchete at the municipal athletics school, and Daniel Cánovas at the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja.
