The City Council of Torrevieja collaborates with the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) in its Winter Program for the realization of the course on the prevention of gender violence "Training, intervention and prevention of gender violence from the design of cultural projects" , which lasts 25 hours and will start today, February 1, until March 1, 2022.

Looking at the iconography and gender roles of cultural products in our century, the perpetuation of certain gender roles can be seen in countless products and cultural fields, both for adults and minors. This conditioning generates discriminatory or sexist stereotypes that become invisible barriers for women to start a professional career in the creative cultural sector and/or to develop within it.

Reflecting on existing stereotypes is essential in the artistic field and in other professions in the cultural sector to prevent traditional power relations between men and women from continuing to normalize, accept and spread through the different artistic expressions, perpetuating inequalities. .

Thus, the gender perspective implies a way of looking at the world, our work and ways of relating. Therefore, we must consciously and intentionally integrate the gender perspective in all the processes of the cultural project, aware of the need to advance and strengthen the incorporation of the gender approach in daily work in the cultural field.

Transversality involves all levels of cultural production, the transmission of content without gender bias and training is also essential for the success of a profound change in sexist attitudes that cause discrimination and violence against women.

If the aim is to improve the effectiveness and quality of cultural projects, programs and resources, the application of a gender perspective is one of its necessary instruments and, in this sense, the role of cultural managers, as well as creators and creators is essential in shaping a new social narrative that includes the diversity of voices that exist in our society.
