In a meeting held this Thursday morning at the Torrevieja Town Hall, chaired by the mayor of the city, Eduardo Dolón, and the Councilor for Social Welfare and Equality, Tomás Ballester, the last two winners, Encarnación Rebollo and María Teresa Sáez, the journalist Melania Sala on behalf of the local media, as well as Josefina Nieto as a representative of the cultural field and Antonia Albentosa, a housewife, acting as secretary María Isabel García, proceeded to the election of the MUJER awards 2022 on the occasion of the celebration next Sunday, March 8, of "International Women's Day". After reading all the proposals received by the Department of Social Welfare and Equality, it has been decided unanimously:

-Awarding the MUJER 2022 award to Trinidad Díaz Lucas, an enterprising woman who ran TRINI Stationery for more than 40 years, fighting against everything that was inconceivable in those days for a woman to open a small business. In addition, he has always stood out for his altruistic facet, working for the neighborhood of La Punta from the Association of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

This award is given in recognition of the entire life, personal and professional trajectory of a local woman, valuing her personal, professional effort, social vocation or her impact on the life of our municipality.

-Grant the WOMAN IN EQUALITY 2022 award, to Mamen Mateo Bosch, a working woman very involved in Torrevieja civil society who has actively collaborated in helping the most disadvantaged with several NGOs such as Nueva Fraternidad, Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients (AFA). In addition, he has been a councilor for NGOs and Health (2011-15) and is currently the president of the Excellent Health Citizen Platform.

The WOMEN IN EQUALITY prize is awarded in recognition of women in the municipality who have stood out in some public aspect (cultural, professional sports, etc.) for their work during the pandemic or in some still masculinized field.

The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 8, at 8:00 p.m., at the Municipal Theater, at the Gala held on the occasion of International Women's Day, with free admission until full capacity is reached. Tickets can be collected at the Department of Social Welfare, located at calle Torrevejenses Ausentes, nº 39.
