The objective of the meeting has been to share the Rainwater Master Plan that the Torrevieja City Council has designed, with the proposed use of rainwater reuse that the Ministry proposes to alleviate the needs of the irrigation communities in the area.
In this sense, the Conselleria is interested in capturing the rainwater that the Torrevieja City Council is going to channel through the entire network of collectors provided for in the Master Plan, as well as the water collected in the storm tanks and reservoirs of lamination that are part of said plan.
Initially, the rainwater collection capacity that the Master Plan proposes would be around 100,000 m3 of capacity, a volume that, through a channeling system, would be diverted to a storage pond for later use by the irrigation communities. Said use of water would have the advantage of reducing the contributions of rain flows to the coast and, consequently, the loss of these flows to the sea would be avoided.
Likewise, the works of the Master Plan, which are estimated at 29 million euros in the first phase, since they are urgent, would be undertaken by the Torrevieja City Council charged to the AGAMED joint venture; and the derivation works to the irrigation communities may be projected by the General Directorate of Water.
Finally, it should be noted that, in any case, both actions could access the possibility of financing from Funds from the European Union through the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
