1,081 families from Torrevieja benefited from the Agamed Social Fund in 2021

Specifically, 892 families from disadvantaged groups (290,324 euros), 112 large families (15,197 euros) and 77 self-employed or small local merchants (77,302 euros) benefited.

The AGAMED Board of Directors, held yesterday morning, reported on the application of the Social Fund executed as of December 31, 2021.

In May 2020, a collaboration agreement was signed for the management of the Social Fund for the water and sewage tariff between Aguas del Arco Mediterráneo SA and the Torrevieja City Council. An agreement that aims to coordinate and cooperate in the joint and effective management of the Social Fund of AGAMED in the vulnerable groups of the city of Torrevieja for which it is intended.

In this way, AGAMED undertakes to cooperate and collaborate with the City Council of Torrevieja for the application of the Social Fund through the application of the discount on water and sewage bills.

It should be noted that this agreement established new profiles so that they can benefit from the planned Social Fund, which allows the residents, merchants and businessmen of the city to meet the bill for the water supply.

The groups to which this Social Fund is intended are:

  • DISADVANTAGED GROUPS: People or cohabitation unit in a situation of social emergency.
  • SELF-EMPLOYED OR SMALL TRADERS: Businesses that have been affected by the state of alarm.
  • LARGE FAMILY GROUPS: For a family unit with a large family certificate and registered in the housing destination of the aid.

The grants that have been made in the 2021 financial year (until January 31, 2021) have amounted to 1,081, for a total amount of 382,823 euros, the vast majority of them destined for disadvantaged groups.

In total, 892 families from disadvantaged groups (290,324 euros), 112 large families (15,197 euros) and 77 self-employed or small local merchants (77,302 euros) benefited.

Finally, it should be noted that last year the number of grants from the AGAMED Social Fund almost tripled in relation to 2020, a year in which 374 grants were awarded, for an amount of 107,417 euros.
