The courses have been carried out in the classroom of the university headquarters of the University of Alicante, in the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center, and have been taught by professors from the Association of Volunteers with Social Initiative in Torrevieja (ATIS).
Due to the large number of citizens from Ukraine after the invasion of Russia, the City Council of Torrevieja, in collaboration with the Association of Volunteers with Social Initiative in Torrevieja (ATIS), launched this educational project so that they integrate as soon as possible in the city.
The courses have been literacy and basic Spanish, and have been taught on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., divided into four groups of 30 students each, having also had the support of Ukrainian residents who speak Spanish.
The objective of these courses that ATIS has been teaching for several years is to provide foreign residents of the locality with sufficient tools for proper integration into Torrevieja society.
The Association of Volunteers with Social Initiative in Torrevieja (ATIS), is an NGO that promotes volunteering, and the vast majority of people who collaborate with it, after being associated with it, provide their services at Caritas, Red Cross or Asila among other associations.
