Torrevieja commemorates the International LGTBI+ Pride Day

On the morning of today, Tuesday, June 28, the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the councilor for Equality, Tomás Ballester, and representatives of the Torrevieja Diversa association, has hung the rainbow flag on the balcony of the Town Hall on the occasion of the celebration of the International LGTBIQ+ Pride Day. Subsequently, a manifesto was read at the door of the Town Hall and an information tent was installed in the Plaza de la Constitución.

The Councilor for Equality has reported that it is planned that various events will be held in September to commemorate Pride Day.

The mayor of Torrevieja has ensured that awareness and education tools must be provided from the municipal level in order to eradicate any type of demonstration against LGTBI people from our society.  

Finally, Eduardo Dolón has condemned any form of violence, both physical and verbal, that has its origin in sexual orientation and gender identity, affirming that Equality policies are not possible without the town halls, and claims the need to Provide Local Entities with sufficient funding to carry out the powers in this area, which allow ensuring the proper implementation of all the necessary initiatives to guarantee the effective equality of people.
