The San Roque neighborhood festivities recover all their acts starting next Friday the 12th

From next Friday the 12th and until Wednesday the 17th of August, the Barrio de San Roque celebrates its patron saint festivities that are sponsored by the Torrevieja City Council through the Department of Festivities, together with the organization of the San Roque Association and the Parish of San Roque and Santa Ana. Precisely in the parish and as a prologue to the festivities, a Novena to San Roque will take place from August 7 to 15 at eight in the afternoon.

The acts return, after two years, to be held in their entirety since during the previous two years they were altered and many of them were even suppressed due to the incidence of the health pandemic. They will begin on Friday the 12th at seven in the afternoon with children's entertainment and a free snack for all the children attending while supplies last. At half past eleven at night a tribute to Grupo Maná will begin, on the stage and venue that will be installed in the usual place, behind the neighborhood Parish Church. On Saturday the 13th at two in the afternoon a great barbecue has been scheduled with popular prices for the attendees and "two for one" for people belonging to the San Roque Association. At eleven o'clock at night, a performance by a musical group will begin on stage, offering a night of "reggaeton." On Sunday the 14th at seven in the evening there will be a summer carnival parade through the streets of the neighborhood and at eleven at night music with the DJ. Serge Salina.

On Monday the 15th at twelve o'clock in the morning, "Paella Day" will begin with the celebration of a contest, and the tasting of a giant paella with popular prices. It will be followed at seven in the evening by children's entertainment, and at eight in the evening a recital of boleros, bachatas, salsa and copla by Cristina Lucendo will begin. Already on August 16, the feast of San Roque at half past eight in the afternoon, the Holy Mass will begin in the Parish of San Roque and Santa Ana, officiated by the bishop of the diocese, Don José Ignacio Munilla Aguirre, in his first visit to Torrevieja as prelate of Orihuela-Alicante. At the end of the service, the traditional procession will begin with the images of San Roque and Santa Ana, owners of the neighborhood, and at the end a fireworks display will be set off.

On Wednesday the 17th, on the last day of these festivities, there will be children's entertainment at seven in the afternoon, awards ceremony and at half past eight in the afternoon, mass in memory of the deceased in the neighborhood and the Parish of San Roque and Santa Ana. Afterwards there will be a show by the Soul Dance Studio Dance School, and from half past eleven at night music with the DJ.Lycos and foam party. The association will organize raffles for gifts to benefit the festivities every day between half past nine and ten at night.

The Councilor for Festivities, Concha Sala, has expressed her satisfaction that these festivities can be celebrated again in their entirety and has thanked the work of both the Parish of San Roque and Santa Ana and the Association of San Roque. It has also made public an invitation to all Torrevejenses and visitors, especially all those who meet in these summer days in the San Roque neighborhood, to participate in all these acts in a festive and harmonious atmosphere.
