Completed the inscriptions to the 50 programmed guided visits to the Museum of Natural History of Torrevieja

More than 1,500 people have signed up to visit the museum, half of them in the last 4 days

The Councilor for Culture of the Torrevieja City Council, Antonio Quesada, informs that in less than 12 days the inscriptions for the 50 scheduled guided visits to the Museum of Natural History have been completed. In total, more than 1,500 people have registered to visit the museum, and half of them in the last 4 days.

9 educational centers in Torrevieja have registered to take their students, and the registered families and general public come from Torrevieja, from towns in the Vega Baja, such as Orihuela, Orihuela Costa, Rojales, San Bartolomé, Callosa de Segura, Redován, Santomera, San Fulgencio, San Miguel de Salinas, Guardamar, Benijófar, Almoradí, Algorfa, Dolores, Bigastro, Pilar de la Horadada, as well as Bajo Vinalopó, such as Santa Pola, El Altet, Elche, Aspe, Elda, and cities further afield, such as Murcia, Alicante, San Vicente del Raspeig, Sant Joan d'Alacant, El Campello and even Madrid. At the end of the visit, attendees make a small craft to take a souvenir from the museum to school or home.

And just for the fact of attending the reserved visit you enter the draw for 9 merchandising products from the UMH, Ars Creatio and the Kentish Plover scientific outreach project for the conservation of these birds. The draw will take place on Sunday, December 18 at the end of the 50 scheduled visits. The winners of the draw will be informed by email or by phone.

The guided tours are financed by the Miguel Hernández University in this year in which it celebrates its 25th Anniversary, and are included in the program of the XIV Science Week "25 years UMH" organized by the Ars Creatio Cultural Association and the UMH, with the collaboration of the City Council of Torrevieja through its Department of Culture.The guided tours are conducted by the biologist Estefanía Alonso and coordinated by the scientist María Luisa Molina.

The Torrevieja Natural History Museum contains specimens of Mammals, Ornithology, Herpetology, Ichthyology, Marine Invertebrates and Malacology. Thus, for example, we will find skeletons of bottlenose and striped dolphins, whales, collections of original nests (abandoned after the breeding period) and replica eggs of a total of 17 species of birds typical of the area, loggerhead turtles, marine molluscs of the sea Mediterranean collected over the years on the coast of Torrevieja, as well as donations from individuals of special relevance and various "jewels" inside claimed by museums in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Paris.
