More than 30 national and international events make up the 2023 sports calendar, presented today at FITUR

The Department of Sports continues to promote sports tourism with the arrival in 2023 of more than 14,000 athletes, distributed in 39 campuses, from countries such as Norway, Denmark, England, Holland, Finland, Belgium, Estonia, Ukraine and Poland.

The Department of Sports of the Torrevieja City Council has presented the Sports Agenda at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), made up of more than thirty events of various disciplines, national and international, as well as the campuses that are part of tourism sports center in which the city has been working in recent years. The presentation ceremony was attended by the president of the Spanish Swimming Federation, Fernando Carpena.

Of the more than 30 events that the Ciudad Deportiva de Torrevieja has prepared for this 2023, the celebration, for the first time, of the European Police and Fire Games stands out, which will take place from September 29 to October 7, with the arrival at the city of more than 3,000 people between athletes and family members.

Continuing with the international events, the Councilor for Sports, Diana Box Alonso, has presented the Rugby Touch Championship (Touch & Tapas) that will take place from March 17 to 19. The Torrevieja International Cup will bring together thousands of athletes of all categories in sports such as volleyball (from June 23 to 27), men's and women's soccer (from April 5 to 9, from April 23 to 27) at Easter and summer. Torrevieja also recovers its Half Marathon (February 26) with the arrival in the city of more than 1,500 people including competitors and family members. National athletics will meet again on October 14 and 15 with the Spanish Children's Athletics Championship.

SPORTS TOURISM WILL HOST A TOTAL OF 39 SPORTS CAMPUSES IN 2023

One of the lines of work of the Department of Sports is Sports Tourism, which in recent years has increased considerably. Between the months of January and August, a total of 39 campuses are expected to take place at the Ciudad Deportiva, lasting between 4 and 12 days. These are international sports groups from different disciplines such as football, swimming, athletics, handball, basketball, triathlon, skating, futsal, volleyball and netball.
