The municipal animal shelter will open its doors for the first time in its history 365 days a year, in the morning and in the afternoon

The Torrevieja Municipal Animal Shelter has begun to apply a new schedule. The Councilor for Animal Protection, Concha Sala, has announced that since this week the new opening hours of the aforementioned facility have been released, which will be open, for the first time in its entire history, 365 days a year, both in the morning like in the afternoon.

This new schedule has been possible thanks to the configuration of the new work planning carried out by the staff of the Municipal Shelter, made up of a lacero coordinator, three laborers, two workers from the "Labora" program of the Generalitat Valenciana, a second lacero and the collaboration of the management and administration staff of the Department of Animal Protection.

The schedule that has already begun to be launched, in its winter version, is from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Concha Sala has highlighted the willingness of all the staff "to keep the hostel open throughout the year, something that had never happened before." The councilor for Animal Protection has thanked this demonstrated sensitivity "so that all the people who want to go to the facilities can do so on a greater number of occasions and, above all, the volunteers who will be able to carry out their work of affection more comfortably to the animals, accompaniment and walking of the pets".

Sala has indicated that this schedule represents a turning point in the history of animal care in the city of Torrevieja, and has referred to the previous works for the construction of the new facilities of the Municipal Shelter that continue their administrative processing. The updating of the prices that will form part of the contract documents is currently in the finalization phase, which have had to be compulsorily rectified due to the current economic situation. The next step, which is expected to take place as soon as possible, is the awarding of the work for the new Municipal Hostel.
