The Councilor for International Residents and Relations with the EU, Gitte Lund Thomsen, accompanied by the president of the Association of Small and Medium-sized Merchants (APYMECO), Jorge Almarcha, has announced the program for the conference that will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, 6 June, starting at 9:30 a.m., at the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja (RCNT), and can be followed live in streaming through the Facebook of the Torrevieja City Council.

The day “Europe Opportunity. Financing for companies and the self-employed" will have the participation of technical staff from the Generalitat Valenciana to inform about the open subsidies and those planned in the coming months, and from the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, which will make a monograph on the digital kit, help from which practically all companies and the self-employed can benefit. In addition, the GVANEXT point of the Torrevieja City Council will be presented, a department that is available to the social and business fabric to inform and advise on European aid.

Gitte Lund has informed that this event is the first of a series that aims to show the opportunities that Europe presents for companies and citizens. “We wanted to start by presenting to the business fabric the work we are doing to bring them closer to the information so that they can benefit from the Next Generation funds. Torrevieja companies can count on economic means to improve their competitiveness by making them more technological and sustainable”, said the mayor, who explained that “after the pandemic, Next Generation funds are an opportunity for European countries. With this economic support, the European Union also intends to change the productive model of our countries, betting on clean energy and digitization. We want this change to reach Torrevieja and help our social and economic fabric”.

To this end, "Torrevieja City Council has two people who offer specialized advice to companies and freelancers seeking financing from Next Generation funds, which will also support citizens and non-profit entities with any European aid and programme", has assured the mayor, who has referred to the difficulty that companies are having when applying for European aid because new concepts have been introduced and they ask for a lot of documentation. "Hence, it has been decided to open this new service to inform and advise any interested person, company or entity", he explained.

These two people are located, one in the Local Development Agency (ADL) and the other in the La Mata City Hall, and provide telephone, face-to-face and online service by appointment at gvanext.torrevieja@torrevieja.eu and by telephone 607 822 878.

In addition, the municipal website (torrevieja.es) has been updated with information on the services offered at the GVANEXT Point, and a selection of calls for subsidies has been made, not only from European funds but also from funds from other administrations, divided by categories and which are aimed at companies, the self-employed, citizens and non-profit entities.

It is also planned to launch a newsletter to which any company, person or entity that is interested can subscribe. Likewise, the website also provides a link to the gvanext.com tool where you can search for aid financed with Next Generation funds.

The work carried out by the two contracted people has a double level. On the one hand, internally they report on the calls open to the different areas and are in charge of the processing, management and justification of the subsidies entrusted to them; and, on the other, at an external level, in addition to information on European funds for SMEs and the self-employed, non-profit entities and citizens, they plan to maintain contact with business associations and organize events with the support of mediating agents.

Gitte Lund finished her speech by stating that the triple objective that the GVANEXT Point in Torrevieja has set for itself is to obtain additional financing from municipal funds to undertake projects for the city, strengthen the business fabric making it more competitive and modern, and promote equality of opportunities and inclusion.
