The Councilor for Beaches, Antonio Vidal, has announced that the city of Torrevieja will celebrate this coming Friday, June 23, the traditional night of Bonfires of San Juan on its beaches. Vidal has reported that there are many citizens of Torrevieja who enjoy this popular festival on our beaches and which serves as the starting signal for summer, becoming a special party enjoyed by both young and old.

There will be four beaches where this very Levantine tradition can be celebrated (La Mata, El Cura, Los Locos and Los Náufragos), and for security reasons access to them will be limited and will be controlled by members of the Local Police. Civil Guard and Civil Protection.

The City Council will deliver the wood to the people who are going to celebrate this popular festival. In total, 15,000 kilos of pine and mimosa wood will be delivered -which leaves no residue- and no other types of wood or elements that can be used to make bonfires on the beaches will be allowed. The firewood distribution points will be: on Los Náufragos beach at the entrance to the Poniente pier; on Los Locos beach (downtown area); There will be three distribution points on El Cura beach (northern area), and on La Mata beach: on Avenida del Agua (next to the pumping station), on Avenida de los Europeos, next to the rescue post and , in La Mata town, in front of the Encarnación Puchol square.

The schedule for the celebration of the Night of Bonfires of San Juan in the four beaches of Torrevieja will be from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., at which time the citizens will be invited to end the party because, later, they will have to begin cleaning the beaches. For that night the Department of Urban Cleaning will have a reinforcement for the cleaning of these four beaches.

In total there will be around 50 people who will make up the security device between local police, civil guards and Civil Protection volunteers, in addition to two ambulances for any incident that may occur during the night and early morning.

Finally, Antonio Vidal has indicated that they hope it will be a night of popular partying and enjoyment for all those who go to the beaches of the town, and calls for responsibility so that when they go to leave the beaches they collect all the belongings and waste that they have could accumulate in them and accumulate next to the bins.
