Social Welfare receives a subsidy from the Provincial Council of 789,805 euros

The Department of Social Welfare of the Torrevieja City Council has received from the Provincial Council of Alicante a subsidy of 789,805 euros, through the call for subsidies addressed to City Councils, Territorial Entities Lower than the Municipality, and Associations of Social Services of the Province of Alicante, intended for social benefits for extraordinary situations, due to the economic and energy crisis, and for welcoming refugees from Ukraine; in accordance with the report of the Social Welfare Assessment Commission.

Extraordinary funds have been mobilized from the provincial institution to help citizens who need it most. The increase in the price of shopping baskets and energy has placed families in very complicated economic situations and the Provincial Council, and with the help of the town councils, will help these people make ends meet.

In this sense, thanks to these subsidies , the basic needs of the most vulnerable families will be covered, covering the purchase of food, cleaning and hygiene products and medicines, school supplies or the payment of rent, electricity or water .

The reinforcement of the Social Services staff of the municipalities and aid to Ukrainian refugees (accommodation, translation services, Spanish teaching, etc.) can also be covered with this subsidy
