Torrevieja will become the epicenter of sports tourism with the celebration of the SASTOM 2023 International Congress, scheduled for November 24 and 25, at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center. This event, organized by the Scientific Association of Sports Tourism Management (SASTOM), in collaboration with the Torrevieja City Council, the University of Alicante, the University of Murcia and other partners, will set the standard in innovation in sports tourism.

The congress, which will address four key thematic blocks (Sports Tourism and Technology, Sustainability in Sports Tourism, Sports Tourism and Health, and Sports Tourism Management), will feature the participation of leading experts from the professional and academic fields, with different round tables throughout these two days. The official opening ceremony will take place next Friday, October 24, at 9:30 a.m., at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center in Torrevieja.

With more than 250 registered in person and online, the congress will attract representatives from various sports federations, clubs, companies linked to tourism and sports entities. Likewise, the participation of congressmen from countries such as Spain, Colombia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, China, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Iran, Ukraine, Philippines, Luxembourg, Algeria, Bangladesh and Peru is expected, who will share their latest research in disciplines that cover management, tourism, economics, law, advertising, sociology, psychology, education, computer science, sports, sustainability and health.

The municipality has specialized in the service sector, especially in activities associated with residential tourism and sun and beach products. However, Torrevieja is committed through different initiatives and projects to the enhancement of its natural and cultural resources, as well as innovation in tourism, through initiatives such as the University Laboratory of Intelligent Tourism (TI·LAB). All these actions are part of the roadmap established by the Torrevieja Tourism Development Strategy, which defines and specifies actions aimed at the comprehensive needs of the current tourist city, an authentic service center in the south of the Valencian Community.

For those interested in attending the congress, the registration period and presentation of abstracts is still open. For more information about this event, visit the official congress website: https://www.sastom.es/ .
