The Torrevieja International CUP increases its offer with handball by 2024

The Torrevieja international tournament, which has been held since 2009 coinciding with Holy Week, will also feature a handball championship, in addition to the already consolidated grassroots soccer, futsal, women's soccer and volleyball championships.

The Sports Councilor has highlighted the importance of the Torrevieja Cup, an international tournament that in the last edition of 2023 had the participation of 4,200 athletes, breaking all participation records that were already achieved in 2022, with more than 3,500 participating athletes.

The Councilor for Sports of the Torrevieja City Council, Diana Box Alonso, together with the president of the C. BM. Mare Nostrum Torrevieja, Pablo López; and the organizer of the Torrevieja Cup, Alberto del Amo, have presented the new offer that this international tournament, which has been held on Week dates since 2009, will have from its next edition in 20024. It is about a handball championship, children's and cadet men's and women's, which will be included in the Torrevieja International Cup.

In total there will be a maximum of 32 teams from these categories that will compete in the tournament in Torrevieja, being able to enjoy the excellent facilities of the Torrevieja Sports City. With handball, one of the most historically rooted sports in the city, the consolidated grassroots soccer, indoor soccer, women's soccer and volleyball competitions will continue.

TORREVIEJA INTERNATIONAL HANDBALL CUP

The Torrevieja International Handball Cup 2024 aims to offer boys and girls the possibility of combining handball with tourism and fun. This tournament will be held on March 28, 29, 30 and 31, 2024, and aims to promote coexistence and promote the human and sports training of young applicants, through experience, in two aspects: being away from home being part of a sports concentration, and being a participant in a sports coexistence through training and competition.

The duration of the matches in all categories (children and cadets, men and women) will be two halves of 20 minutes per part. In all categories, there will be a first phase of groups of four that play all against all in a single round.

The first classified teams will qualify to play in the knockout phases; semi-finals and final for each category. It is planned that each team can play a minimum of five games.
