The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the Councilor for Urban Management, Accessibility and Urban Services, Sandra Sánchez, together with residents of the area, has visited the completion of the works of the Maestro Francisco Casanovas Crossing, which began the second week of December and have consisted of the redevelopment of the entire street.

These works were included in the Reasphalting Plan and improvements to pedestrian routes and accessibility, with an investment of more than €50,000. The execution period for the works has been less than two months.

CHANGE OF ROAD SECTION

Sandra Sánchez has reported that an important change has been carried out in the section of the road to mainly improve the pedestrian route and accessibility, with the widening of sidewalks that go from 1.20 to 2.20 meters, the execution of lugs and adequate sidewalk recesses to comply with the cross slope according to accessibility regulations.

It is also worth highlighting the change that occurs in the circulation of vehicles, since it now has a single lane with a northerly direction of traffic, that is, from Calle Maestro Francisco Casanovas to Calle La Calera, and can continue in the same direction along Calle Young Pure. In this way, the two parking lanes that existed on both sides of the street will continue to be available and risks for road traffic will be eliminated, a decision that has been coordinated between the Infrastructure area and the Traffic area of the Torrevieja City Council.

After the complete demolition of the sidewalks and the new curbing for their expansion, the curb has been placed, regulation and compaction of granular material in the base layer, execution of a concrete slab and finally, placement of gray paving stones. stone on all the sidewalks and red paving on the tactile warning and directional pavement for pedestrian crossings, complying with accessibility regulations. The total area has been approximately 350 square meters.

The works have been completed with the milling and subsequent resurfacing of an area of 510 square meters, with the painting of all the horizontal road markings and the vertical traffic signs.
