The Headquarters of the University of Alicante in Torrevieja and the Department of Education of the Torrevieja City Council organize two new courses of the Permanent University of the UA. The Permanent University of the University of Alicante is a scientific, cultural and social development program aimed at promoting science and culture, at the same time as intergenerational relations, to improve the quality of life of older people and encourage the participation of these in their context as social dynamizers.

The objective is to facilitate adults' personal and social development, collaborating with older people, in fair correspondence to what they, with their work and effort, have contributed to society.

The UPUA program is integrated into the framework of specific university teachings for people over 50 years of age, which respond to needs such as: deepening the democratization of knowledge, compensation for inequalities, integration and social participation of these people in society, the promotion of intra- and intergenerational relationships, which contribute to the maintenance of quality of life, together with the opening and diversification of options for continuing an active life in non-work contexts.
