The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the Councilor for Infrastructure and Urban Management, Sandra Sánchez, have visited the redevelopment works of one of the main streets of the city, Caballero de Rodas, which runs from Apolo Street to its end. , which coincides with the intersection on Galeón Street.
The Caballero de Rodas works are included in the contract for resurfacing and improvements to pedestrian routes and accessibility, which includes an exclusive chapter for the Redevelopment works of Caballero de Rodas, with an investment of 998,720 euros, with general expenses, industrial profit and VAT included.
CHANGE OF STREET SECTION
The redevelopment that is being carried out and that is going to completely change the appearance of the street, consists of widening the sidewalks, thus modifying the cross section of the road, generating a single circulation lane 4 meters wide, bands of parking on both sides and a variable width of sidewalks until they meet the facades of the buildings, which will depend on the street width of each section.
ROAD TREES
The existing trees on this Torrevieja road have been transplanted to municipal green areas, and will be replaced by other species that do not affect the pavement of sidewalks and roads. In addition, 125 tree pits are relocated to the sidewalk, thus generating a greater number of parking spaces on the road, including the installation of 1,700 meters of new drip irrigation network, with its corresponding manholes.
CHANNELING FOR FUTURE PUBLIC LIGHTING
Likewise, trenches are being built on both sidewalks with two reserve tubes and a total length of 1,700 meters of route, in anticipation of a future installation of lighting using staffs or columns, since currently public lighting has arms embedded in the facades. of the buildings.
PAVEMENT and ACCESSIBILITY
In addition, the paving surface of sidewalks on a concrete slab and finished with gray stone paving will be close to 6,000 m2, with curb curbs linearly measuring 2,200 meters. The intersections of each of the streets are being resolved using lugs, thus improving accessibility and creating places for reduced mobility at different points. In addition, protective fences will be installed on the lugs and benches of street furniture in different areas. The works include the resurfacing of a total area of 7,600 m2, after milling and new horizontal signage.
Among the actions is the installation of a children's play area at the height of Colonia San Esteban, with an area of close to 30 m2.
DRINKING WATER NETWORK RENEWAL
It should be noted that these redevelopment works have coincided with other drinking water renovation works being carried out by AGAMED, so previously the demolition work, opening of trenches and, subsequently, the assembly of the new supply network along with connections to homes. Once the AGAMED works are completed, it is the City Council's successful bidder who then begins to carry out the redevelopment work.
Currently, with only the new trees to be planted, the section from Galeón Street to Almudena Street has already been completed.
