APROBADA POR UNANIMIDAD LA MOCIÓN A PLENO DEL GRUPO POPULAR PARA RECLAMAR AL MINISTERIO DE TRANSICIÓN ECOLÓGICA INVERSIONES DE REGENERACIÓN COSTERA EN EL MUNICIPIO
The motion presented by the Popular Party has been supported by councilors from the PSOE, VOX, and Sueña Torrevieja.

In a plenary session held this afternoon, Monday, October 27, the motion presented by Sandra Sánchez, deputy spokesperson for the Popular Municipal Group, to demand various investments in coastal regeneration from the Ministry of Ecological Transition was unanimously approved by all political groups represented in Torrevieja City Council, given that the recent DANA (High Water Dam) has once again caused damage to our coasts and beaches.

The Popular Party's motion was supported by council members from the PSOE, VOX, and Sueña Torrevieja parties, urging the Provincial Coastal Service of the Ministry for Ecological Transition to undertake, as soon as possible, the repair work for the damage caused to the municipality's coast as a result of the recent rainfall caused by DANA Alice.

It also urges the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge to put out to tender the planned defense works for the regeneration of Playa del Cura, even if the project is modified so that the Ministry abandons its intention to demolish the "El Tintero" bastion.

Furthermore, this motion demands that the Spanish Government include in the 2026 General State Budget a budget line that includes coastal defense and regeneration activities in the area surrounding Los Locos and Los Náufragos beaches, as well as the necessary budget allocation to undertake the regeneration works needed by our beaches.

Finally, the State Coastal Directorate General is urged to collaborate in financing the redevelopment works on Los Locos Beach, to be carried out by Torrevieja City Council during 2026.

MORE THAN 15 MILLION EUROS INVESTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL IN RECENT YEARS

Torrevieja City Council has been making significant investments to improve the coastline, having undertaken, among other things, the complete renovation of the La Mata Pedestrian Path, and is planning to begin the renovation of the Los Locos Beach promenade in the coming months.

It's worth noting that these significant investments represent a significant budgetary effort for the city of Torrevieja, exceeding more than €15 million combined. The Ministry will not provide any funding for these investments, despite the City Council's repeated demands. However, they should really be co-financed by both administrations. Furthermore, all these investments should be complemented by beach regeneration projects if our true objective is the comprehensive rehabilitation of our coasts.
