Pangea Integra brings together 42 migrants to explore Torrevieja, share experiences, and promote intercultural coexistence.
The Pangea Integra initiative , promoted by the Department of Social Welfare of the Torrevieja City Council, through the Pangea Office for Attention to Migrant People, has concluded its first edition in October with the participation of 42 people of different nationalities, 31 women and 11 men , in a space for meeting, learning and coexistence intended to facilitate the reception and integration of migrants in the municipality.
The participants came from Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, Morocco, Colombia, Ukraine, Russia, Uruguay, Poland, Cuba, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Algeria, reflecting the cultural diversity that characterizes Torrevieja.
Over four sessions, held on Tuesdays in October, Pangea Integra has offered practical information on municipal resources and services, opportunities to learn about the social and cultural reality of the city, a cultural visit and a space for dialogue in which to share migratory experiences.
The program's objective has been to help participants get to know Torrevieja better, to be able to move around the municipality more independently, to identify available resources and to discover different ways to participate in community life.
The first session focused on presenting the main resources, services, and support centers available in the municipality. During the session, the Integration Guide, developed by the Pangea Office, was also presented. This guide is designed as a practical tool to facilitate access to relevant information and provide guidance to migrants navigating their daily lives in Torrevieja.
The second session focused on the life, customs, and traditions of the city. For this, the organizers were fortunate to have the collaboration of Mr. Francisco Reyes , to whom they express their gratitude for his participation and the generosity with which he shared his extensive knowledge of Torrevieja. His explanations helped bring the participants closer to the history, culture, and local traditions, sparking their interest in learning more about the city in which they live.
The third day allowed participants to take their learning experience to the urban environment through a cultural visit to Torrevieja. The organizers especially appreciate the collaboration of the Department of Tourism , whose involvement made this activity possible and allowed participants to enjoy a pleasant morning discovering different aspects of the municipality's heritage and identity.
The program concluded with a panel discussion on migration experiences, designed as a space for listening, dialogue, and sharing experiences. During the meeting, participants were able to share their stories, reflect on the challenges of the migration process, and discuss their experiences of integrating into a new city.
The organization especially thanks Florencia Rodríguez, Lucica Lol i ceru , Marina Kozlovskaia , Ekaterina Klychmamedova , Rubén Darío Roca and Angeli na Tulush for their participation in this panel and for sharing their personal experiences, contributing to creating an atmosphere of trust, mutual understanding and collective enrichment.
The final session also included the presentation of participation diplomas , in recognition of the people who have been part of this first edition of Pangea Integra.
With this initiative, the Pangea Office reinforces its work of supporting migrants residing in Torrevieja, promoting knowledge of municipal resources, an approach to local culture and the creation of links between people from different backgrounds.
The Pangea Office is grateful for the participation of all those who have been part of this initiative, as well as the collaboration of those who have contributed to the development of the different sessions, making possible a space for coexistence in which cultural diversity becomes an opportunity to get to know each other, learn and build community in Torrevieja.
