The Tourism Councilor of the Torrevieja City Council, Rosario Martínez Chazarra, has released the statistics of the influx of visitors at the tourist information office of the Vista Alegre promenade during the months of July and August 2021.

The total number of visitors attended at the tourist information office during this summer (July and August) was 6,006 visitors (2,579 in July and 3,427 in August), 45.78% corresponding to demands from national tourists and the rest, a 52.28%, to demands of international tourists. It should be noted that for the first time since the pandemic, international tourism slightly exceeds national tourism. Tourist users made a total of 7,289 inquiries.

Compared to 2020 there has been a significant increase in face-to-face service; While last year 2,300 people were attended during the summer period, this figure has been surpassed this year with almost three times as many people going to the tourist office and, compared to 2019, the figures are approaching, with only one 16% less influx. Probably the high vaccination rate is encouraging people to go without fear to our tourist office and for this they should consult the most up-to-date information possible.

Comparative data for 2020 and 2021

The main office, located on Paseo Vista Alegre, receives most visitors mainly due to its central location and long hours, since it remains open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays and public holidays. 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., making the schedules of national and international demand compatible.

The busiest day of the whole summer was Tuesday, August 10, with 278 people, followed by August 4, with about 268 people.

As usual, the Community of Madrid leads national visitors, representing 26.6% of the total, followed by local visitors with 23.1%, the Valencian Community with 14.7% and the Basque Country with 10 ,2%.

Among foreign tourists, the proximity between French and Belgians is accentuated, occupying 29.3% and 19% respectively (representing almost 50% of visits), followed by British, Swedish and German. There is an increase in tourists from Eastern Europe such as Poles.

Of the total inquiries made, 38% were about local information, 14.3 about cultural activities, followed by transport with 10.2%.

Hotel occupancy summer 2021

Hotel occupancy during the month of July exceeded 74% and, in August, 80.30%, the average for the entire summer period being 78%. By category, the only 4-star establishment in August had 96.22% occupancy, surpassing the month of July. The three-star establishments have had 83.48% in the first half of August and 78.47% in the second, some of them surpassing 90%. Regarding the apartment blocks, the data provided reached 91.77% during the month of August.

In general, the data approximates the year 2019 in which the global average for summer was 77.9%.

Evolution throughout this year in face-to-face care

A notable increase can be seen both from April to May and from May to June and, finally, from July to August.
