The Municipal Institute of Culture "Joaquín Chapaprieta" announces that from November 4 to 21 the exhibition "Carpet and Carpet of Crevillent" will be held in the Vista Alegre Exhibition Hall. An exhibition that has the support of the Alicante Provincial Council in the framework of collaboration with UNIFAM (National Union of Manufacturers of Carpets, Carpets, Coatings and Related and Auxiliary Industries), a national association of the sector and domiciled in Crevillente, to promote the roots of the crevillentine carpet and carpet industry.

It is a traditional sector of the province of Alicante, which since 1411 has placed Crevillente in the cradle of rugs and carpets in Spain, since then creating warm environments all over the world, but, at the same time, an innovator that has managed to transform itself and adapt to the evolution of the market and the great variety of preferences and tastes of consumers.

Specifically, 10 companies from the Crevillentino municipality will participate in the exhibition, seven of them manufacturers of rugs or carpets and three belonging to the auxiliary industry, specifically the preparation of dyes, yarns and textile design.

Its content includes 22 very attractive rugs that contemplate a wide variety of the sector's offer, aimed at the national and international market, both in design (classic, modern and timeless), production technology (Wilton, Face to Face, Axminster looms , Braided and Flat Woven), structures (loop, cut pile, mix and braided), raw materials (wool, tencel, viscose, polypropylene, leather, sisal, jute, polyurethane, cotton and nylon) and finished product (carpet and indoor and outdoor carpet). All of this is the result of the constant effort of Research, development and innovation and, fundamentally, of the knowledge and talent of companies, clearly betting on the implementation of Industry 4.0, based on technological innovation, digitization and sustainability.

At the same time, there is a retrospective, through various photographic collections, of the production process corresponding to the beginning and middle of the last century, visualizing the trades that it contemplated. Likewise, different unique pieces of high value are shown, such as designs made and colored by hand as well as certain characteristic elements of the weaving, such as the shuttle and its components.

In order to reinforce the visual image, a video presentation of UNIFAM will be projected continuously, in which it will be possible to contemplate the evolution that such processes have undergone from the past to the present.

In short, it is a very interesting exhibition that shows the essence of Crevillente as a “carpet city”, collecting on the one hand the tradition and roots of its industry and, on the other hand, making known the innovative and pioneering products that Crevillentinas companies manufacture and distribute all over the world.
