The City Council receives a grant of €3,421,700 from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, for the new urban transport service

The secretary councilor of the Local Government Board (JGL), Federico Alarcón, reported this morning that the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, has granted the City Council of Torrevieja a subsidy of €3,421,700 within the aid to municipalities for the implementation of low-emission zones and the digital and sustainable transformation of urban transport.

The subsidized services are the following: -Acquisition of electric vehicles. -Acquisition and installation of charging units for electric vehicles. -Complete digitization of the urban transport service. -Transformation of existing stops and central interchange.

Federico Alarcón has informed that, although the form of management of the city's urban transport service has not yet been established, something that is the responsibility of the Municipal Plenary, the circumstance arises that for the subsidy to be executive, the General Secretariat of Transport and Mobility of the Ministry of Transport grants deadlines for advancement of the different procedures for subsidized services that are quite tight. In this way, the first term establishes that, in the event of contracting the urban transport service concession, it must be tendered on April 30, 2022.

For this reason, Federico Alarcón explained, it is necessary, in order to comply with the aforementioned deadlines, to carry out the actions prior to a contract for the provision of the urban transport service, because if the Municipal Plenary considers the form of management of the service as management indirect, and these previous actions are not carried out, it will be impossible to meet the established deadlines, losing this important subsidy of €3,421,700.

For all this, as established in the report issued by the municipal Civil Engineer, the cost structure of an Urban Transport service will be requested from the following five companies in the Transport sector:

-Autocares La Inmaculada SL

-Globalia Business Corporation S.A.

-Business Corporation Vectalia SA

-Alsa Group SLU

-Costa Azul RSU coaches
