Work begins on the municipal sports pavilion of La Mata

This multipurpose pavilion will have a 44 x 23 meter sports court, it will have a capacity for 400 people with a seating area of almost 200 seats, two locker rooms for teams and two locker rooms for refereeing, an outdoor lobby of 243 m2, a cafeteria of 38 21 m2 and two multipurpose rooms of 100 and 90 m2

This morning, the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Diana Box, several councilors from the Government team and representatives of the winning company Orthem, and the architect drafting the project, Miguel Antonio Mateo, have attended the start of work on the new La Mata municipal sports hall, which will occupy a strategic location next to the access to the Torrevieja district, near the N-332 roundabout and delimited by Delfín, Francia and Avenida de los Daneses streets.

The mayor has highlighted the importance of this infrastructure highly demanded by the materos, and hopes that although the execution period of the works is 18 months, it can be completed ahead of schedule.

The new La Mata pavilion, with an execution budget of more than 5 million euros, will be a multipurpose space in which not only will different sports modalities be practiced on its first floor, but it will also allow social and cultural activities to be hosted in the ground floor, thus responding to the growing demand for spaces for sports and social uses in the area. The pavilion will have capacity for 400 people with a seating area of almost 200 seats.

The La Mata pavilion will have a 44 x 23 meter sports court, enabled for the practice of sports such as indoor soccer, volleyball, handball, basketball and badminton, in accordance with the specific regulations of the Higher Sports Council. This space also allows a transversal layout to combine several simultaneous events. Likewise, the infrastructure will be equipped with two team locker rooms and two referee locker rooms, an outdoor lobby, a cafeteria and two multipurpose rooms.
