Torrevieja City Council, Agamed and the Red Cross sign the second phase of the "Ola" program

The Councillor for Social Welfare of the Torrevieja Town Hall, Óscar Urtasun; the President of the Alicante Provincial Committee of the Red Cross, Francisco Galvañ; the Managing Director of AGAMED, Jorge Ballesta; and the Deputy Manager of AGAMED, Gemma Cruz, have signed the launch of the II phase of the OLA Programme, aimed at promoting and contributing to the employability of people who are beneficiaries of the AGAMED Social Fund. Under the acronyms OLA “Employment”, “Leadership” and “Accompaniment”, this initiative addresses some of the employment goals of the beneficiaries.
This job placement programme aims to enhance the personal and professional skills of vulnerable groups. Furthermore, through support in covering basic needs, participants will have access to guidance and training actions for access to the labour market, improving their quality of life.
All the agents involved in this initiative have valued very positively the launching for the second time of this initiative, which goes beyond the AGAMED Social Fund that has been implemented for more than a decade in the city. In this way, in addition to the aid they receive for the cost of the water bill, the people who benefit from this program will have the opportunity to enter the world of work.
This alliance between the City Council, the Red Cross and AGAMED aims to provide access to decent employment, in order to achieve a better economic and social situation for people in vulnerable situations and beneficiaries of the Social Fund. It is also a gesture that strengthens cooperation between the social, public and private sectors to accelerate social transformation towards a more prosperous and dignified future for those who need it most.”
PHASES OF THE OLA PROGRAM
The OLA programme includes different phases of support for unemployed people. This first phase will take place over six months. The project is based on an initial diagnosis of the situation regarding the employability and basic needs of each participant. From here, the programme includes job guidance actions and training capsules to improve basic skills.
The actions included in the programme also include technical and specific training, mediation, job prospecting and interview support, with coverage of basic needs and an impact assessment to identify the changes generated by participation in the programme. In this way, the programme strengthens the role of the entire family unit behind each participant as a driving force, enhancing their personal and work skills. The amount of this agreement for its development, which is included in the AGAMED budget, amounts to a total of 16,000 euros.
