From the Pangea Office, for the Care of Migrant Persons, through the Department of Social Welfare, we want to inform you about the legislative updates of Royal Decree 316/2026, of April 14, in relation to the extraordinary regularization of this year 2026 in Spain.


We know this news generates a lot of hope, but it is essential to know the real details to carry out the procedures safely.

The process affects people who were in Spain before January 1, 2026.

Key points to consider:

The application period opened on Thursday , April 16 , with the start of online application processing . For in-person applications, the online appointment system was also enabled on April 16, although in-person service, by appointment only, will begin on Monday, April 20.

The application period for both routes will be open until June 30th.

The following requirements must be met cumulatively:

  • Be in Spain before January 1, 2026.

  • Be of age.

  • Not to have the status of an interested party in procedures that aim to grant, extend, renew or modify authorizations for stay or residence.

  • Not to be or have been the holder of a residence permit obtained in accordance with Council Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/382 of 4 March 2022 finding the existence of a mass influx of persons from Ukraine within the meaning of Article 5 of Directive 2001/55/EC and with the effect of initiating temporary protection.

  • Full copy of the valid or expired passport, valid or expired registration certificate or travel document, recognized as valid in Spain, valid or expired.

  • To have resided in Spain continuously for the five months prior to submitting the application. This may be proven by any legally valid document, provided it includes personal data that allows for verification of identity.

  • No criminal record.

  • Not to present a threat to public order, public safety or public health.

  • Not to be listed as inadmissible in the territorial space of countries with which Spain has signed an agreement in this regard.

  • Not being within the period of commitment not to return to Spain.

  • Having paid the fee.

Furthermore , to be granted the authorization, they must demonstrate compliance with at least one of the following requirements:

  • Applicants must have worked, either as employees or self-employed, during their stay in Spain, or demonstrate their intention to work as employees by submitting a job offer, or as self-employed by submitting a sworn statement (using the Ministry's specific template). The contract or series of contracts must have a duration exceeding 90 days.

  • Remain in Spain with your family unit consisting of:

    • Daughters or sons under the age of 18.

    • Daughters or sons over the age of majority with a disability who require support for their needs.

    • First-degree ascendants with whom you live.

  • Being in a vulnerable situation, accredited by a vulnerability report.

    The vulnerability report IS NOT MANDATORY if one of the above points regarding employment or family unit is met.

Presentation:

In person : At the Registry Office, next to the town hall in Plaza de la Constitución , or at the registry office in the La Mata Town Hall in Plaza Gaspar Perelló. Walk - ins are welcome at the registries from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Online : the procedure will soon be available on the city council's electronic portal.
