EN MARZO FINALIZAN LAS OBRAS DE LA BALSA DE LAMINACIÓN DE AGUAS PLUVIALES JUNTO A LA N-332, EN LA URBANIZACIÓN DOÑA INÉS
With this expansion, a greater storage capacity (14,000 m3) will be available for water from the existing transversal drainage works, minimizing flooding in the Doña Inés urbanization and on the N-332 highway.

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, the Councilor for Urban Services, Sandra Sánchez, the manager of AGAMED, Jorge Ballesta, the deputy manager, Gemma Cruz, and the Head of Works of AGAMED, Miguel Mazón, visited this morning the expansion works of the rainwater lamination pond on the left bank of the N-332 highway, in the Doña Inés urbanization. Some works that began in July 2023, which receives the waters from the rolling pond attached to the Los Mercados site and from the ditch on the east side of the N-332, and which will be fully completed during the next month of March. .

The pond will have a storage capacity of 14,000 m3 to minimize the flooding episodes suffered by the residents of this area of Torrevieja. In order to minimize flooding in the Doña Inés urbanization and given the magnitude of the flows flowing towards the area where the lamination pond is located, it was considered necessary to expand the existing lamination pond, so that a greater storage capacity (14,000 m3) for water from the existing cross drainage works. In this way, flooding will be minimized in the Doña Inés urbanization and on the N-332 highway.

The surface of the projected lamination pond is 4,533 square meters and the average depth is 3.2 meters. The overall execution budget amounts to 570,505 euros (VAT included).

For the construction of this hydraulic solution, different tasks have been carried out, which have included clearing and clearing the plot, as well as the necessary excavation and clearing of land. In addition, an access ramp has been formed to the bottom of the pond and the pipelines of the existing transversal masonry works have been extended to the bed of the new pond.

Likewise, embankments have been made to crown the pond and coatings have been executed on the slopes using medium-sized breakwater. An access ramp has also been paved and the bed of the pond has been prepared with the formation of preferential paths for the water and the creation of islands and tree pits, delimited by curbs.

In addition to these actions, an irrigation network has been installed and planting and gardening tasks are being carried out to improve the aesthetics of the area, as well as benches, pipican, etc. for the enjoyment of the residents of the area. To delimit and protect the area, an ecological fence will be placed on the west side, made up of wooden logs embedded in a concrete base, and a sliding access door will be installed.

It is important to highlight that the expansion of the rolling pond has been carried out in the open and has an approximate maximum excavation depth of 2.50 meters. The storage capacity is approximately 14,000 m3.

They have also followed the instructions of the Ministry of Public Works to design the reinforced concrete channels, which will allow correct drainage of the water towards the lowest point of the pond.
