Environmental educators visited the festival areas, encouraging residents to recycle glass to meet the recycling challenge set by Ecovidrio. The residents of Torrevieja recycled a total of 3,153,867 kilograms of glass containers. This means that each resident recycled an average of 31.4 kilograms of glass. Torrevieja has an average of 100 inhabitants per container, and currently has a total of 996 glass recycling containers installed throughout the municipality.

Last Friday, the Torrevieja City Council's Local Government Board approved the tender for the Municipal Sports Schools' transportation contract for trips outside the city. The base tender budget amounts to €117,325.67 (VAT included) for 176 regional, provincial, regional, and national trips.

The duration of the contract will be four years plus a possible one-year extension, with the base tender budget being 1,198,143 euros (VAT included).

The purpose of this contract is the cleaning of municipal offices and the supply and replacement of hygienic-sanitary containers (gel, toilet paper, hand paper, etc.) in municipal buildings, educational centers and sports facilities.

Thanks to this initiative, the citizens of Torrevieja will be able to learn about the importance of recycling glass and how much each individual contributes with this simple gesture.

With this new work team, the aim is to reinforce control over the service itself and detect breaches by some companies and citizens on a daily basis, and which are included in the Municipal Urban Cleaning Ordinance, with infractions ranging from 50-750 euros.

The Councilor for Urban Cleaning of the Torrevieja City Council, Diana Box Alonso, reports that Acciona, the company awarded the waste collection, landfill transport, street cleaning and coastal cleaning and maintenance service, has already begun the implementation of the new equipment of underground containers to house the remaining fraction.

The councilor secretary of the Local Government Board of the Torrevieja City Council, Federico Alarcón, has informed this morning of the approval of the file, specifications of technical prescriptions and administrative clauses for the contracting of the integral maintenance service, replacement, general repair and conservation of the irrigation systems of the green areas and public roads, including all the elements that are necessary for their correct operation, construction, management and viability of the municipality of Torrevieja. It should be noted that the works, extensions, modifications and any other circumstance that affects the contract will be the property of the City Council, once executed and certified. The duration of the contract will be three years, with an annual extension of two years. The maximum duration, if the corresponding extensions are agreed upon, will be 5 years. The estimated value of the contract amounts to 1,507,172.60 euros, with the base bid budget being 301,434 euros.
